Donald Dent

Donald Dent, 77, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013, at St. Mary's Heath Center. He was born August 16, 1935, in Knox City, Missouri, the son of the late James Clyde and Lottie Mae (Dennis) Dent. On February 14, 1955, he was united in marriage to Shelby Jean Miner in LaBelle, Missouri, who survives at the home. Donald was a graduate of Knox City High School. He was a heavy equipment operator for Missouri Gravel in La Grange for more than 20 years. Over the years he farmed, ran the county road grader, drove a school bus and was a milk delivery driver. He also owned and operated the Standard Station in La Grange. For the past 18 years while in residing in Jefferson City, Donald worked in property management and construction. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing and storytelling. Along with his wife Shelby, he is survived by three children: Donnie Dent of Jefferson City, Randy Dent (Tammy) of Jefferson City and Cherilyn Wearmouth (Scott) of Waukee, Iowa; three brothers: Ernest Dent of Macon, Missouri, Clyde Dent of San Antonio, Texas, and Richard Dent of Blue Springs, Missouri; eight grandchildren: Emily Dent, Amy Dent, Dennis Dent, Randal Dent, Jason Dent, Sarah Dent, Chris Wearmouth and Katy Wearmouth; three great-grandchildren: Avery Dent, Levi Dent and Natalie Dent. He was preceded in death by one brother: Robert Dent; and three sisters: Mary Regenos, Eva McCarty and Juanita Nall. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 29, 2013, at the Bee Ridge Cemetery in Knox City, Missouri. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Bee Ridge Cemetery.
