Dennis Howell

Dennis Howell, 70, of Prairie Home, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at his residence. He was born December 9, 1942 in Denver, Colo., the son of Joseph Warren and Dorothy (Schindler) Howell, both of whom preceded him in death. He was united in marriage on May 7, 1992, to Maureen Moran, who preceded him in death on June 26, 2011. He worked as an iron worker for Affiliated Metals. He enjoyed gunsmithing and being with his family. He collected coins, knives, and guns. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Dennis is survived by two sons, Joseph Howell and fiancÈe Caitlin of Jefferson City, and James Darrell Johnson and wife Tammy of Highland, Ill.; two daughters, Denise Howell of Wright City, and Christi Lynn Butts and husband James of Madison, Ill.; one sister, Diana of Oceanside, Calif.; six grandchildren, Marissa Butts; Nicholas, Noah, and Nyles Johnson; Joslin Howell; and Ezra Howell; one great-granddaughter, Nalanie Butts. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Peter Kurowski. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Dennis Howell Memorial Fund, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak St., California, MO 65018.
