Dorothy Hess, of Jefferson City, passed away at her home on Friday, July 12, 2013. She had just celebrated her 94th birthday two weeks ago. She was born June 30, 1919, in Bowling Green, Mo., to Harry and Minnie Smith. Moving several times, the family settled in Jefferson City, where she was raised and graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1939. She married Jack White in September 1944, and he preceded her in death in October 1965. In August 1970, she married Jimmie Hess, and he preceded her in death in April 2002. Dorothy was a housewife. She also was employed at Gerbes for many years. She loved raking leaves, drinking a cold can of Coke, and her passion was owning many purses. Dorothy is survived by one son: Gary Lee White of Lee's Summit, Mo.; two granddaughters: Jackye White Noyes, and Julee White Stein, also of Lee's Summit; and six great-grandchildren: Kole, Reghan, Mitchell, Chloe, Addison and Hailey. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one brother: Bud of Sacramento, Calif. Special thanks for the loving care the past year by Bee At Home, and to her neighbors for many years, John and Martha Lage and family. Private family services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013. Entombment was held at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
