James Lee Ortmeyer, 69, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born July 10, 1943, in Jefferson City, a son of Elmer Ortmeyer and Hermanda (Taube) Ortmeyer. He was a graduate of Helias Catholic High School. On August 27, 1966, James was united in marriage in Holts Summit to Adeline Vincent, who survives at their home. James was a truck driver for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion and AMVETS. James loved to travel and also spend time with his family, especially his two grandchildren. Along with his wife Adeline, James is also survived by three children: Christina Medina of Jefferson City, Vance Ortmeyer of Jefferson City, and Jennifer Hentges (husband Ron) of Centertown; two grandchildren: Garrett Hentges and Madison Hentges of Centertown; one brother: Robert "Bob" Ortmeyer (wife Meg) of Texas; and one sister: Diane Ochesky (Husband Karl) of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father: Elmer Ortmeyer; and his mother and step-father: Hermanda and Bernard Grefrath. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
