Ralph D. Scott

Mr. Ralph D. Scott, age 88 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, September 21, 2012, at Boone County Hospital in Columbia, Mo. He was born on July 5, 1924, in Jefferson City, Mo., a son of Emmanuel and Ella Jane Hader Scott. He was married on July 13, 1946, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Lucille Marie Buehrle. A lifelong resident of Jefferson City, Ralph was a 1942 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He was employed with Missouri Power and Light, also known as Union Electric and now Ameren UE, for over 43 years working his way up the company from reading meters to retiring in 1986 as a district manager over light and gas. Ralph was an active member and deacon of Memorial Baptist Church where he also taught Sunday school. He also served our community in numerous capacities including: charter president of the Jefferson City Rotary West Club (1974-1975), board of director with Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce (1977-1979), and board of director with the Jefferson City Area United Way (1977-1983) serving as board president in 1982. Ralph enjoyed playing golf, bowling and being outdoors hunting. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and had great memories growing up playing baseball, even playing into his adult years. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. Survivors include: his wife of 66 years, Lucille Scott; one daughter, Karen Karr and her husband Kim of Chesterfield, Mo.; two sons, Gary Scott and his wife Kathy of Jefferson City, Mo. and Randy Scott of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Martha Merrill of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Herbert Scott and his wife Wanda of Columbia, Mo.; five grandchildren, Eric Scott and his wife Erica, Amy Thomas and her husband Matt, Alex Moore, Lindsey Karr, and Griffin Scott; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Avery Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Revice Scott, Virgil Scott, and Marvin Scott; and three sisters, Ruby Wright, Helen Burbey, and Anita Scott. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, Monday, September 24, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Monday in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Mark Towns officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Memorial Baptist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
