John R. Wilson, age 59, of Loose Creek, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his family. John was born November 11, 1952, in Jefferson City, a son to the late George and Margaret (Kemple) Wilson. John was a Linn High School graduate. He obtained his Associates Degree from Linn Technical College and also attended Lincoln University. On July 21, 1973, he was united in marriage to Sharon Lock in Loose Creek, who survives at home. John worked as a bridge detailer and Underwater Bridge Inspector for the Missouri Department of Transportation until retiring in 2008. He then went to work for SKW in Columbia as an Engineering Technician. John was a lifelong area resident and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and previously served on Parish Council. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and also served as a Scout Master. John coached numerous local youth baseball teams. He was awarded the Citizens Service Citation from the Missouri State Water Patrol for his heroic efforts saving a child's life on the Osage River. Johnny enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time on the river. He also loved all things cooking and BBQ so much he became a KCBS Master Judge, participating in and judging competitions statewide. John enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball and loved watching a good football game especially the Green Bay Packers. His love for rock 'n' roll was unmatched and he took great pride in his flowers. Above all else, he was extremely dedicated to his family. In addition to his wife Sharon, John is survived by: three sons, Jeffrey Wilson and his wife Carrie of Jefferson City, Michael Wilson and his girlfriend Kim Sherman of Columbia, Dustin Wilson and his wife Julie of Jefferson City; two daughters, Jennifer Warren and her husband Troy of Loose Creek and Sarah Wilson of Loose Creek; six grandchildren, Logan and Gavin Wilson, Elly Wilson, and Lilly, Lucy and Alexander Warren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant brother, James Wilson. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2012, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek with Fr. Don Antweiler as the celebrant. Interment will follow at the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or The Immaculate Conception School Foundation.
