Kathleen Thompson, 93, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012, at St. Joseph's Bluffs in Jefferson City. She was born April 12, 1919, in Stronghurst, Illinois, a daughter of the late C.L. and Rebekah (Mitchell) Thompson. She attended school in Plainview, Texas, and finished her senior year and graduated from Jefferson City High School. She went on to attend Business College in Jefferson City. Kathleen worked for the State of Missouri in the Division of Employment Security for 44 Ω years. She started out in Data Processing and retired as Supervisor. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jefferson City for over 80 years, and was the oldest living member. Kathleen volunteered over 6,000 hours at Capital Region Medical Center, and was also a volunteer at the American Red Cross and the Welfare office. Kathleen is survived by one brother: Lee Thompson (wife Mary) of Phoenix, Arizona; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother: Robert W. Thompson on August 23, 2011; and two sisters: Elizabeth Miller and Clydene Anselmo. Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 21, 2012, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
