C. Parker "Punch" Bennett, 80, of Wappapello, Mo., died Friday, September 14, 2012, at Heritage Gardens of Senath, Mo. Mr. Bennett was born July 22, 1932, in Greenville, Mo. He was baptized in the Baptist faith, and for many years attended the Christian Church. Mr. Bennett was a retired Civil Engineer, and had worked as superintendent of Maintenance, District 10 in Sikeston, Mo. for 33 years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Bennett enjoyed spending time with his family, boating, camping, woodcutting and anything to do with engineering. On April 3, 1954, he married Ada Jane "Jan" Reed in Hernando, Miss. She survives. Other survivors include a brother, Patrick Bennett of Alstd, Germany; sister-in-law, Holly Hendon of Wappapello, Mo.; and three cousins, Hal Bennett of Madison, Mo., Tom Bennett of Burbon, Mo., and Mary Jane Spurgeon, also of Madison, Mo. His parents, Boss H.P. and Helen (Parker) Bennett, and infant son, Carroll P. Bennett Jr. preceded Mr. Bennett in death. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service and burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with Sue McDonough officiating. Pallbearers will be: Carmen Conci Sheldon, Betsy Lynn Toft, Mike Perry, Frank A. Conci, Hal Bennett, Jr. and Aaron Baughn. Memorial may be made to the Wappapello Volunteer Fire Department, or Poplar Bluff Sports Hall of Fame Museum.
