Robert L. "Bob" Haynes, 76, of Columbia, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012, at Columbia Manor Care Center. Bob was born January 7, 1936, in Callaway County, Mo. to Harvey and Goldie (Oetting) Haynes. He married Martha Sue Richardson on March 9, 1957, in Holts Summit. Throughout his life Bob advocated for the rights of senior citizens. He received his Masters in Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He then returned to Missouri where he worked as a Social Worker for 28 years. Bob also enjoyed music and spent much of his free time playing his guitar. In the mid 1970's he shared his love of music by producing an album featuring jazz guitarist Irving Ashby. Bob is survived by his wife, Martha Sue of Columbia; his son, Michael Haynes of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Cheryl Unterschutz and her husband Gary of Columbia, Mo.; and his beloved grandchildren, Emily and Erich Unterschutz; one brother, Gary Haynes of Hams Prairie, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Walden of Columbia and Deborah Robinson of Overland Park, Kan. and other family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
