Cleffie May Long

Cleffie May Williams Long, 100, of California, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. She was born on July 1, 1912, in Cooper County, the daughter of Henry Jordan Williams and Sarah Barbara "Sadie" Scott, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on February 8, 1933, to J. Glen Long, and they enjoyed 55 years together, living their entire married lives in the Clarksburg area. Cleffie went to Gill Elementary School and Clarksburg School. She worked many years at the Stride Rite Shoe Company in Tipton and was also a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church near Clarksburg were she held many positions such as Sunday School teacher, choir member, Sunday School Secretary and Treasurer, and any other tasks she could do. Cleffie and Glen loved God and loved people. She will be greatly missed, however, we can only imagine the great reunion in Heaven and we thank God for their lives. She is survived by her daughter, Gleneth Rowles and husband Bill of California; one grandson, Ron Rowles and wife Angie of California; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Logan Rowles. Other survivors include: nieces, Leola Tuttle of Tipton, Peggy Borghardt of Jamestown, Frances Evans of Oak Grove and a niece-in-law, Mary Katherine Long of Cotton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 27, 1988; an infant daughter, Sarah Margaret; her parents; two sisters, Lydia Lou Long and husband Porter of the Cotton area, and Ruth Sullins and husband Jack of Kansas City; and a nephew, Henry Lee Long of the Cotton area. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 10, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church in California. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Clarksburg. Officiating will be the Rev. Greg Morrow. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2012, from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California. Memorials are suggested to either the Mt. Pleasant Church or Cemetery, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, MO 65018. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
