Arthur Kenneth Wimberley, 77, of Jefferson City, passed away from this life Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Capital Region Medical Center. Art was born to Ralph and Mary Alice (Barber) Wimberley in Decatur County, Georgia on October 18, 1934. He spent much of his childhood in the panhandle of Florida and graduated from Sidney Lanier High School, Macon, Georgia and Georgia Tech, Atlanta Georgia. On October 14, 1978, Art was united in marriage with Leesa Gayle Dooley who survives at their home. Art retired from the Missouri Public Service Commission in 2000. He and Leesa traveled as frequently as they had the opportunity and were fortunate to visit many wonderful locations. In his spare time Art enjoyed digging in the dirt, planting anything that grew and tenderly caring for each plant. He was a wonderful cook who enjoyed spending time in his kitchen. He was a Christian man who lived his faith with compassion, forgiveness and love for others. Along with his wife Leesa, Art is survived by his son: Michael Wimberley (wife Val) of Longmont Colorado; two daughters: Michelle McLaughlin (husband Pete) of Longmont, Colorado and Leigh Haines (husband Joe) of Marietta, Georgia; four grandsons: Carter Haines and Davis Haines both of Marietta Georgia, and Paxton Wimberley and Connor McLaughlin both of Longmont, Colorado; his first wife: Joanie Wimberley of Marietta, Georgia; one brother: Ron Wimberley (wife Nan) of Enterprise, Alabama; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in law and sisters in law. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Robert Wimberley and a granddaughter: Hallie Erin Wimberley. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2012, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with a Memorial Service to follow with the Rev. Murl Nash officiating.
