Lloyd G. Johnson

Lloyd G. Johnson, 90, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born June 25, 1920, in Iberia, a son of George and Maude (Bacon) Johnson. He attended school in Ulman. On February 22, 1946, Lloyd was united in marriage in Waynesville to Irene W. "Pete" Johnson, who preceded him in death on December 5, 2008. Lloyd served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945, serving in the Bismarck Archipelago, New Guinea and Southern Philippines. He was a mechanic with Johnson Frame & Brakes and Scheer Tires in Jefferson City until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5. Survivors include three children: Jon Johnson and wife Dana of Centertown, Debbie Scruggs of Jefferson City, Dinah Taylor of Jefferson City; three grandchildren: Andrew Hearne, Melody Scruggs, Brooke Taylor; and five great- grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Johnson, on October 7, 2009. Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 27, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. J. David Maher officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice Compassus.
