John Henry Ford, 69, of Macon, passed away Monday, December 13, 2010, at Boone Medical Center in Columbia. John was born on April 15, 1941, in Callao, the son of John M. ìJuniorî and Henrietta (West) Ford. He was a graduate of Macon High School in 1959. John was united in marriage to Janet Wood at the First Baptist Church in Macon on May 12, 1961. He served the State of Missouri as a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol for 40 years. John was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and on several other church committees. He was an avid outdoorsman, coached youth basketball and enjoyed farming. John is survived by his wife, Janet of Macon; one daughter, Lori Bledsoe and her husband Randy of Belton; three sons, Mike Ford and his wife Connie of Macon, Jeff Ford and his wife Jessica of Fort Campbell, Ky., and Jason Ford and his wife Michelle of Russellville; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Liz Bradshaw and her husband Dave of Overland Park, Kan., and Martha Hawkins and her husband Gary of Chillicothe; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack Ford; and one niece, Amy Hawkins. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 17, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Macon, with Dr. Monte Shinkle and Reverend Wayde Howell officiating. Burial will be in the New Chariton Cemetery north of Callao. Visitation will be at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon on Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested for the First Baptist Church Benevolent Fund.
