Ms. Kay Loethen

Ms. Kay Frances Loethen, age 55, of Germantown, Tenn., passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010. Kay was born January 1, 1955, in Jefferson City, to James Loethen and Mary Frances Rodgers Loethen. She attended schools in Jefferson City, Columbia, and Cape Girardeau, and received her Masters in Education and Specialist in Administration. She moved to Caruthersville in 1978 and worked five years for the Caruthersville City School system. She then continued her career with the Pemiscot County Special School District before retiring in 2005 after 20 years of service. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville and was also a member of the Presbyterian Women's Club and PEO. Kay is survived by her companion, Sandra Manley; her daughter, Kate Loethen; her son, T.J. Loethen; three sisters, Rebecca Loethen, Shirley Corrigan, and Camille McGraw; three brothers, Sam Loethen, James Loethen, and William Loethen; as well as a multitude of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Frances Loethen; and sisters, Constance Loethen and Sandra Loethen. Pallbearers for Ms. Loethen were David Madison, Ted Streete, P.G. Maners, Frank Holloman, Jim White, Jeremy Brooks, Chris Corrigan, and Bobby McGraw. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church, Caruthersville, with Rev. Doctor Paul Currie officiating. Interment was in Maple Cemetery, Caruthersville. Arrangements provided by H.S. Smith Funeral Home, Caruthersville.
