William "Bill" L. Harman, 78, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, November 29, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born January 11, 1932, in Bellflower, a son of the late Emil and Julia (Bordeaux) Harman. He was a 1950 graduate of Bellflower High School in Bellflower. On November 23, 1957, he was united in marriage to Lillian Richter, who survives at their home. Bill was Chief Warrant Officer for the Missouri Army National Guard, where he retired after 40 years of service. He was a member of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. Over the years, he raced cars and rode dirt bikes and four-wheelers. He also built a Cobra and Avenger replica sports car. Bill and Lil enjoyed boating, traveling in their RV, and going to the annual Fly In at Oshkosh, Wis. He built three different experimental planes, that are still in use today. He was also an avid race car fan. Bill was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Show-Me Motorsports, Jefferson City Sportsman's Club, SMART RV Club, and the Experimental Aircraft Association. Along with his wife Lil of 53 years, Bill is also survived by one son, Kevin Harman (wife Roz) of Jefferson City; one daughter, Valerie Lesko (husband Keith) of Jefferson City; one brother, Robert Harman (wife JoAnn) of Orlando, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Karsten and Ethan Lesko and Sydney and Natalie Harman. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral service and full military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Fr. Benjamin E. Nwosu officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Charitable Fund.
