Herbert O. Strobel, 90, of Lohman, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at SSM Health Center with his wife at his side. He was born on May 10, 1931, in Lohman, a son of the late Adam and Mathilda (Fleugal) Strobel. Herbert was united in marriage on September 19, 1987, to Rosemary Old at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lohman. He was a 1949 graduate of Russellville High School. In 1952, Herbert joined the United States Army and proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1954. He was a lifelong farmer but was employed for 42 years with the Missouri Highway Department as a Permit Reviewer. He enjoyed being outdoors, working on his farm or mowing his lawn. He was a great man and will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Rosemary. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Rosemary Strobel; step-daughter, Karen Smith (John Pat); step-grandchildren, Craig Smith (Lori) and Michael Smith (Melissa); step great-grandchildren, Charlie, Gus and Evie Smith, Cooper and Carter Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews. Herbert was preceded in death by his brothers, Edwin and Raymond Strobel and sisters, Esther Goldammer and Irene Rockemann. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lohman with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the St. Paul's cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
