Rachel Ann Bischoff, 74, of Mary's Home, Mo., passed away September 6, 2021, at her home with her husband of 26 years, William M. Bischoff, at her side. Rachel was born January 14, 1947, in Columbia, Mo. to David and Myrtle (Hathman) Morris, who preceded her in death. She grew up in Columbia with her sister, Rita and attended Columbia Public Schools. She later moved to the Jefferson City area with her first husband and their three sons. She worked for Cowley Distributing, Scholastic and many years at Maytag Corporation until they closed. She worked for and retired from Redfield Golf Course. Rachel enjoyed the outdoors, tending to her plants and flowers and making her specialty food recipes for her family, especially no-bake cookies. In earlier years family time spent camping, fishing, listening to old country music and playing cards brought her much joy. You didn't have to be related for her to love you as her own. She was "mom" and "grandma" to many. It made her happy to help people and doing kind deeds. Her heart was full when she was baptized in 2009. She was also feisty and did not hesitate to let you know her thoughts, good or bad. She loved having pets in her home and was elated to recently add a new puppy. In addition to her husband, Bill, she is survived by three sons from her first marriage to the late Edward "Ray" Vaughan, David (Edie) Vaughan Sr. of Hallsville, Robbie (Mary) Vaughan and Danny (Allison) Vaughan, both of Jefferson City; step-daughter, Shelly (Darin) Bax of Mary's Home; step-sons, Mike (Tina) Bischoff of Lohman and Matt Bischoff of St. Thomas; six grandchildren, Mindie (Jason) Roush, Derrick (Jenna) Vaughan, Danielle (Dustin) Layton, Erica (Seth) Forck, David (Miranda) Vaughan Jr. and Madison Vaughan; nine step-grandchildren, Brittany Bischoff, Cheyenne Heriford, Jared Bischoff, Mykala Bischoff, Caleb (Sara) Bischoff, Dylan Bischoff, Josh Bischoff, John Bischoff and Grace Bischoff. She is also survived by many great- grandchildren, extended family members and friends who brought much joy to her life. Arrangements are entrusted to Heartland Cremation & Burial Society. Condolences can be left at www.heartlandcremation.com. We ask that you pay tribute to her memory by doing a kind deed to make someone smile. A celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
