John David Finch, age 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo., after a long and brave battle against Lymphoma. He was born on January 16,1947, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., the son of Judge James A. Finch Jr. and Helen Carroll Finch. John graduated from Cape Central High School in 1965 and Southeast Missouri State University in 1969. John was united in marriage to Carolyn "Kay" Finch on June 23, 1968. In 1969, John served in the United States Army where he was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Following his military service, John and his family moved to Jefferson City, Mo. where he worked as a financial advisor for Stifel Nicolaus & Company for over 40 years serving as Branch Manager and First Vice President. Throughout his career, John helped many families and was dedicated to serving the Jefferson City community. John was an avid golfer and sports fan. He loved traveling, gambling, and, most of all, spending time with his friends and family. John is survived by his loving wife of over 53 years, Kay Finch; daughter and son-in-law, Jill F. and Anthony C. Shanley of Jefferson City, Mo.; grandchildren, Abigail Carolyn Shanley of Kansas City, Mo. and Connor Finch Shaney of Springfield, Mo.; and nephew, Greg (Sue) Sickal of Campbell, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge James A. Finch Jr. and Helen Carroll Finch; his sister, Gail Hubbell; and his brother, James A. Finch III. A celebration of life will be held for John's friends and family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the John David Finch Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Central Bank, 238 Madison Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101, to help local high school students pursue post-secondary education.
