Shirley Luebbering

Shirley M. Luebbering, age 79, of St. Thomas, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Jefferson City Manor. She was born on August 22, 1942, daughter of the late Henry and Martha (Gerling) Sallin. On May 29, 1971, Shirley was united in marriage to Norman Luebbering, who survives at their home. Shirley was a faithful member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas. She treasured spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends, as well as her beloved dog, Fritz. She was most proud of her grandchildren. Visits, phone calls, or even mentioning them always brought joy and a smile to her face. They will always remember her famous banana bread, macaroni and cheese, sugar cookies, and other treats she made for them. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Norman Luebbering; daughter, Denise Spaunhorst (Matt) of Washington; son, Kurt Luebbering (Kim) of Osage Bend; grandchildren, Megan and Luke Spaunhorst, Madelyn, Blake, and Olivia Luebbering, Lane and Leah Luebbering; brother, Ron Sallin (Joyce) of Murray, Kentucky; sisters, Waneta Buthod and Linda Sallin of Jefferson City; sisters-in-law, Rosie Schaefer, Betty Ann Luebbering, Dolores Holterman (Robert), Rita Luebbering, Mary Jane (Ralph), and numerous family and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Keith Luebbering; grandson, Curtis Luebbering; sister, Carol Sallin; brother, Wendell Sallin; brothers-in-law, Jim Schaefer, Raymond Luebbering, Bob Luebbering, Reuben Luebbering, Donald Luebbering; sister-in-law, Lorraine Luebbering. Praying of the rosary will be at 9 a.m. with visitation following until 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11 a.m., on Saturday, November 27, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta with Fr. Jeremy Secrist officiating. Interment will be held at St. Thomas Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Church Renovation.
