Norma Jean Wood, 66, of California, Mo., passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 10, 1954, the daughter of Hugh H. and Ruth (Walkingstick) Potter, both of whom preceded her in death. Norma was a 1972 graduate of California High School. She then was married on June 24, 1972, at the 1st Assembly of God in California, Mo. to Carl Dwayne "Woody" Wood who survives of the home. Norma worked for California Manufacturing for 18 years until her health forced her retirement. Her family, children and grandchildren were the love of her life. She enjoyed making quilts, especially baby quilts. She gave baby quilts to nearly every newborn of family friends. She also enjoyed crocheting baby afghans, always giving them away. She belonged to Quiltin Chicks, the Quilt Guild and Specialty Quilts Club. Norma was a member of the Moniteau Evangelical Advent Church and had served on the Church Board as Secretary. She began and taught a sewing group at church for young kids called Sit'n Sew. She is survived by her husband of the home; son, Jason D. Wood (Karen) of California, Mo.; daughter, Christinia Wood of Columbia, Mo.; brother, Larry Potter of Catoosa, Okla.; grandaughter, Jordan Wood; Grandsons Dillon Wood of California, Mo. and Devan Harms (Heather) of Kansas City, Mo;. and great-grandson, Carson Harms. Norma was preceded in death by her parents and infant grandaughter Alayna Rene` Wood. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, from 12 noon until 2 p.m. with funeral immediately following at 2 p.m. all at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Moniteau Evangelical Advent Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Russell Cobb assisted by Rev. Steve Watson. Memorials are suggested to the Moniteau Evangelical Advent Cemetery or St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, Mo.
