William Deuel Sr., 82, of Kearney, Missouri, previously of Columbia, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021, at Liberty Hospital. He was born in Sedalia, Missouri on August 19, 1938, to the late John Eddie Deuel and the late Daisy (Cunningham) Deuel. On June 21, 1957, he was united in marriage to Frances (Bryant) Deuel who survives his passing. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his family and he spent as much time as he could with them. He enjoyed cheering them on at their sporting events, giving them support and advice, getting together for fun family time. He always had a story to share and loved to laugh. Bill had an amazing sense of humor and was able to lighten any situation with a joke or bring a smile to someone's face, he never met a stranger. He had a strong faith and love of God. Bill was a proud American serving in the National Guard after high school. Bill loved to travel, he enjoyed spending time at BSA camp Hohn, the lake, boating and camping with family. Bill was a registered member in Scouting for 70 years. He was an Eagle Scout, and was awarded several achievement awards, including the Silver Beaver, and the President's Award for lifelong service and support to the youth of the Great Rivers Council. Bill will be fondly remembered by his wife of nearly 64 years, Frances; sons, Bill Deuel Jr. (Bridgette) of Smithville, Chris Deuel (Sharon) of Kearney, and Derrick Deuel (Teresa) of Columbia; brother, Harold Deuel (Patricia) of St. Augustine, Fla.; grandchildren, Nathan Deuel (Jorden), Paige Deuel, Bryan Deuel (Sara), Jaime Deuel, and Alyssa Deuel; and great-grandchildren, Peyton Deuel, Mallory Deuel, and Harper Deuel. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by daughter, Cindy Deuel; and five brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Jim Voigt officiating. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
