Melva "Corky" Constance Rackers, 93, of Jefferson City, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021. She was born on June 8, 1928, in Jenks, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late T.G. and Alice (Storts) Wilkinson. Corky was married on November 19, 1949, in Collinsville, Oklahoma to Cletus Rackers. She was a 1946 graduate of Vera High School in Vera, Oklahoma and went on to attend Bartlesville Business College. Corky was the bookkeeper for the family business, Concrete Foundation Construction Company. She was very active in St. Peter School while her five children were in attendance. Raising her family was always her priority but she found time to obtain her real estate license. After retirement she and Clete loved to travel. Corky enjoyed reading, oil painting, gardening and feeding the birds. Most of all, she loved making memories with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Corky is survived by her children, Cleta Rackers, Mike Rackers (Pam), Greg Rackers (Lisa), Gary Rackers (Melanie) and Mark Rackers (Lori); sister, Cowetta "Tweetie" Schmeisser (Earl); grandchildren, Diedre Owens (Michael), Chad Rackers, Dustin Rackers (Kelly), Mitchell Rackers (Bethany), Thomas Rackers, Juliana Rackers and Sophia Stockman; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus Rackers; one great-granchild; and siblings, Juanita Beeson, Oleta Taylor, Venita Howland, Winona McCoy and Jack Wilkinson. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with Prayer Service beginning at 4:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at St. Peter Catholic Church Chapel with Fr. Jeremy Secrist officiating. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Peter Catholic School or Hospice Compassus of Central Missouri.
