Walter Andrew Malzner, 89, of Jefferson City, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021, with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 15, 1932, in Moniteau County, Missouri, a son of the late Oscar and Elnora (Schoch) Malzner. Walter was united in marriage to Helen Forbis on June 7, 1959, at Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit. He was a 1950 graduate of Cole R-1 High School in Russellville, Missouri and was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked at Cook's Paint and Varnish before joining the United States Postal Service in 1967, retiring in 1997 after 30 years of faithful service. Walter was a member and volunteer for the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing and spending time on his farm. Walter was a charter member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Walter is survived by his children, Walter "Curt" Malzner (Danielle) of Russellville, Rose Marie Malzner of Jefferson City, Kerry Yamazaki (Noboru) of Jefferson City, Cara Malzner of Jefferson City and Laura Malzner, also of Jefferson City; siblings, Elmer Malzner of Russellville and Margaret Malzner of Russellville; and grandchildren, Whitley and Christina Malzner. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Helen Malzner, and sister, Dorothy Jeter. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Scott Musselman officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Russellville.
