James Dale Bryan, 80 of Etterville, Mo., passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Jefferson City on March 13, 1941, and was the middle son of three boys. He grew up an Osage County boy from Linn, Mo., playing basketball as a Linn High School Wildcat. He attended Lincoln University working towards an engineering degree when he started working in sales to put himself through college. He worked as a sales rep for several companies before deciding to start his own businesses. He served in the US Army Reserves from 1962-1968. He married Eleanor Slawson Randazzo in 1965 and they had three children together. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially enjoyed playing golf and hunting. He was loved dearly and held in the highest regard. If you ask a hundred people who James Dale Bryan was, their answers will certainly vary. A savvy salesman who was fearless in his ability to make a new friend. A successful entrepreneur who was not afraid to take risks necessary to build a business. A humanitarian who saw potential in everyone he met and gave so many a second chance to improve their circumstances. A soldier in the US Armythank you for your service to country. A loving husband and father who always made sure his family was provided for. An avid hunter and fisherman. A teacher, a brother, a friend, or maybe just a golfing buddy. No matter how you knew him, he never sugar-coated things, and you always knew where you stood with him. Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years: Eleanor (Ellie) Bryan; two sisters-in-law: Susan Brand, Mary Bryan; brother: John Bryan (Paula); two sons: Jim Bryan and Jeffrey Bryan; one daughter: Jane Holt (Rob); seven grandchildren: Robbie (Jamee), Taylor, Harley, Karson (Jacob), Justin, Payton, Madalyn; three great-grandchildren: Kaelyn, Kaiser, and Axel; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Emerson Bryan; his mother: Neva Bryan; one brother: Robert "Jerry" Bryan; and daughter-in-law: Mary Elizabeth Bryan. A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 17 at the North Jefferson Recreation Area Outdoor Pavilion, 927 Fourth Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101. We would love to see you there as we honor his life. Like a ship sailing away, he might be out of our sight but never gone. He will live in our memories for the rest of our days.
