Oscar Louis Branson, 86, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 18, 2021. He was born on March 26, 1934, in Linn, a son of the late Waymon and Mary (Yates) Branson. He was united in marriage to Joan Schaefer, October 13, 1956, in Taos, Missouri. He worked for Oberman Manufacturing and International Shoe before going to work for ABB and retiring from the company after 27 years. Oscar enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was an excellent cook and baker. His chicken and dumplings are said to be the best and he lovingly made each of his children their favorite jelly roll at Christmas. Oscar was known for helping other family members when in need and treated their kids like his own. His kindness will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Oscar is survived by his children, Randy Branson and Sandra Wadley (Terry); daughter-in-law, Debbie Branson; grandchildren, Ashley Wadley, Jeremy Matheson, Bryce and Tyler Branson; granddaughter-in-law, Kate Matheson; and great-grandchildren, Kayla and Trenton Matheson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; son, Louis Branson; grandson, Kevin Matheson; and 10 siblings. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 22, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Taos.
