Norbert Juergensmeyer

Norbert Juergensmeyer, 96, of Koeltztown, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 7, 1924, in Koeltztown, a son of the late Conrad and Louise (Schaefer) Juergensmeyer. He was married on November 18, 1950, to Dorothy Schroeder in Meta, Missouri. Norbert attended St. Boniface School in Koeltztown. He served his country in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946, but in that short time, he earned the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He worked for Boes Insulation from 1950 until 1957. Norbert was employed with DeLong's from 1957, until his retirement in 1986. He was a lifelong member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and had currently been the oldest living member. Norbert was a member of the VFW Local 8045. In his earlier years, he was a member of the DeLong Bowling team. Norbert raised registered Hereford cattle and sawed lumber on the family farm. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gigging. He also enjoyed going to auctions. His most cherished times were spent with his family and canine companion, Buddy; they will truly miss him. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy; children: Anita Hagenhoff (Rick) of Koeltztown, Joan Henson of Dixon, Grace Bruemmer (Rocky) of Wardsville, Doug Juergensmeyer (Jennifer) of Koeltztown, Phylis Voss (Gary) of St. Elizabeth, Rita Sherrill (Al) of Memphis, Tennessee, Keith Juergensmeyer (Dana) of Meta and Gayla Ocheskey (Brian) of Frankenstein; sister: Sister Edith Juergensmeyer, SSND; 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren with two on the way; two great-great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. Norbert was preceded in death by his parents; children: Thomas, Ross, Wanda and Andrew Juergensmeyer; brother: Felix Juergensmeyer; sister: Florence Kellenberger and an infant brother. Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m with Fr. Basil Tigga officiating. Interment with military honors will immediately follow in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Boniface Cemetery or St. Boniface Endowment Fund.
