Tammy F. Carrier

Mrs. Tammy F. Carrier, age 49, of New Bloomfield, Mo., passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family. Tammy was born on January 5, 1972, in Gulfport, Miss., the daughter of Allen F. and Nancy F. (Ingram) Light. She was married on September 13, 2003, in Jefferson City, Mo. to Kevin Carrier, who survives at the home. In 1976, Tammy's family moved to Rolla, Mo. where she was a 1990 graduate of Rolla High School. Right after graduation, Tammy was offered a job in Jefferson City, Mo. for the State of Missouri. For 30 years, Tammy worked her way up through different departments including Organ Donor Registry and Lead Licensing with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Most recently, Tammy was working as a Health Program Representative and had planned to retire this year. She cherished many of the relationships of her coworkers through the department and always looked forward to socializing with them. A woman of strong faith, Tammy was a member of United Pentecostal Church in Jefferson City. She played the piano and was a praise singer with the church. She never failed to spread the word of God and encouraged her family to sing His praises with her. Tammy had a passion and talent for scrapbooking. She often made scrapbooks for her kids and family that helped capture different events and stages of their lives. Tammy and her mom spent many hours working on scrapbooks together and traveling to scrapbooking shows, making endless memories together. Tammy liked the thrill of race cars and enjoyed going to different speedways in Missouri to watch sprint cars and modified cars race. When Tammy was younger, she could often be found on the ball fields playing softball at first base position and at the kitchen table playing games, especially Monopoly. Most of all, Tammy cherished the time she spent with her kids and family. She was an avid supporter of her kids and never missed an event for them. She was especially proud that two of her sons are serving in the United States Air Force. Tammy will be remembered for her caring and creative nature, a strong faith in the Lord and love of her friends and family. Survivors include: her loving husband of 17 years, Kevin Carrier; four children, Tracy Joslin of New Bloomfield, Mo., Colton Carrier of New Bloomfield, Mo., Ryan Joslin of Sedalia, Mo. and Austin Carrier of Montgomery, Ala.; her parents, Allen and Nancy Light of Rolla, Mo.; one brother, Lawrence Light (wife Heather) of St. James, Mo.; two nephews, Brody Allen Light and Cooper Cash Light; and her father-in-law, Donald Carrier of Columbia, Mo. She had a special love and bond for her in-laws and all of her extended family. Tammy is also survived by a good friend who she thought of as a sister, Trish Eichholz. Tammy was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Virginia Carrier. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2021. The general public is welcome to attend the visitation and her family has requested anyone in attendance to wear a protective mask. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 22, 2021, in the Freeman Chapel with Pastor Richard Ward and Brother Curtis Owens officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens in Rolla, Mo. A webcast of her service can be viewed at 10:00 a.m. Friday for friends that are not able to attend by going to her memorial page on Freeman Mortuary's website.
