Robert B. Boyd, age 75, of New Bloomfield, passed away January 3, 2021, at The Bluffs in Columbia, Mo. He was born July 31, 1945, in Fulton, Mo. to the late Clayton H. and Sara Janet (Roberts) Boyd. Rob was united in marriage to Jo Ann Allen on June 4, 1966, at The United Methodist Church, New Bloomfield, Mo. As a child, Rob lived in Fulton, went to Kindergarten, first and second grade at East School and third and fourth grade at West School. His parents transferred him to New Bloomfield Elementary in the fifth grade. He graduated from New Bloomfield High School May, 1964. Rob was a member of the United Methodist Church in New Bloomfield. In his early years, he helped his Grandfather Roy Roberts on his farms and at age 16 went to work for the up and coming Meadow Lake Acres Country Club. He started as maintenance on the golf course and worked his way up to be Superintendent of the Greens for 17 years. He was later the Irrigation Specialist on the course making a total of 52 years of employment, until because of health, he took retirement in 2012. He was very proud of his accomplishments. He was a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America for 45 years. Rob was very involved with his children in their schooling and their sports. He enjoyed filming all the baseball and basketball games. He spent many hours on the computer making copies of the tapes to give to the coaches to review and to anyone who would request a copy. Rob loved to travel. He and his wife would go to the Golf Course Superintendents Associations Conferences which were held in a different state each year, where he took courses to re-certify for his employment. His hobby was painting cars in his shop with Ron Craighead. R & R Body shop. In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by two children, Jennifer (Bryan) Kempker, New Bloomfield, Mo. and Rick (Kathy) Boyd, Union, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Boyd Kempker (fiancée Kari White), Raymore, Mo., Klayton Kempker, New Bloomfield, Deven Boyd, Regan Boyd, Ireland Boyd, Keaten Boyd and Teague Boyd, Union, Mo.; one sister, Susan (Steven) Sapp, Southlake, Texas; brother-in-law, Jim Allen, Euless, Texas; several cousins, nieces, nephews, family and his best friend Ron Craighead. He was preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Bennett and Carrie E. (Young) Boyd; and maternal grandparents, Roy and Emma (Starkey) Roberts. Because of Covid-19 a private grave side service will be held. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the New Bloomfield Cemetery, The United Methodist Church, The Christian Church, Providence Baptist Church or The New Bloomfield Historical Society all of New Bloomfield, Mo.
