Shirley Jean Kolb

Shirley Jean Kolb, 76, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Capital Region Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 10, 1944 in Jefferson City, a daughter of the late Albert and Velma (Karr) Kliegel. Shirley was united in marriage on May 1, 1965 to Norbert Kolb. Shirley was a graduate of Fatima High School. She was employed with Becker & Evers, Data Comm, Schrieffers and the State Attorney General's Office. Shirley also volunteered at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church where she was a member. Shirley's main activity involved the support she gave her grandchildren over the years but she also enjoyed bowling, embroidery, doing puzzles, playing bocce and being a CYO chaperone. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Norb; children: Kelley Bax (Kent), Mark Kolb (Donna), Greg Kolb (Diane) and Kristy Gump (J.); grandchildren: Adam Bax (Claire), Logan Bax, Ashley Green (Chris), Lindsey Kolb, Emily Kolb, Chloe Kolb, Justin Kolb, Kendall Duncan (Derek), Rylee Kolb, Jaden Kolb, Austin Gump, Brandan Gump (Brittney) and Dawson Gump; great-grandchildren: Karsyn Duncan, Roman Duncan, Trenton Green and Louie; and many other family and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law; brothers: Bobby Kliegel, Larry Kliegel; sister-in-law: Pat Kliegel; brothers and sisters-in-law: Joe and MaryJane Kolb, Lucille Rackers (Leo), Louis Kolb, Agnes Volmert (Dick); and grandson: Corey Bax. Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Wardsville Lions Club, 3505 Route M, Jefferson City, MO 65101 with a prayer service at 2:15 p.m. The family has asked that anyone attending visitation to please wear their favorite jersey or sports team apparel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Fr. Ignazio C. Medina officiating. Interment will immediately follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
