Mary Ann Hoelscher, 96, of Jefferson City (Wardsville), passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at St. Mary's Health Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 24, 1924, in Wardsville, Missouri, a daughter of the late Bernard and Mary (Rackers) Winkelmann. She was united in marriage to Vincent Hoelscher on May 7, 1949, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She was a 1942 graduate of St. Peter Catholic High School. Mary Ann was secretary to former governor Forrest Smith. She also partnered with her husband on their dairy farm. She was a hard worker and passed this trait onto her children. She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Mary Ann was very involved in her community and tutored at St. Stanislaus Catholic School. She enjoyed gardening, and was an excellent cook. Mary Ann was a member of Women of Wardsville (WOW), Ladies Sodality, St. Mary's Auxiliary, and Prayer Hour. She was very proud of her family, especially of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the lights of her life. She is survived by her children: Larry (Gayle) Hoelscher of Columbia, Art (Mary Kay) Hoelscher of Jefferson City, Carol Hoelscher-Gardner of Jefferson City and Janet (Randy) Johnson of Hartsburg; sister: Ragene Schulte of Argyle; eight grandchildren: Kim (Lee) Abbott, Gabe (Karen) Hoelscher, Carri (Jon) Lane, Matthew Ross (Tara) Hoelscher, Brady (Megan) Gardner, Lance Johnson, Cole Johnson and Jack Hoelscher; two great-grandchildren: James Violet Lane and Tate James Gardner. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, son: Alan Vincent Hoelscher and two sisters: Sister Bernadette Winkelmann and Margie Adrian. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2021, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery. The general public is welcome to attend services while following social distancing guidelines. Facial covers are encouraged while in attendance. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.millardfamilychapels.com. KALAF Anthony Joseph "Tony" Kalaf, 78, of Jefferson City, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021, at his home. He was born on March 22, 1942, in Meta, a son of the late Joseph and Lilly (Owen) Kalaf. Tony was united in marriage to his sweetheart, Cheryl Farnham, on July 17, 1965, in Meta, Missouri. Tony was a 1960 graduate of Fatima High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1960 until 1964, during the Vietnam War. He earned an electrician associate degree from Linn Technical School in 1966 and an associate degree in management from Santa Ana College in 1974. Tony worked with Gulton Industries, S.C. Division from 1970 until 1981. In 1981, Tony moved his family to Jefferson City and worked for Fasco Motors until 2000. He was then employed with Wren from 2000 until his retirement on March 22, 2009. Tony was a co-founder and lifetime member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). He was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1003. He enjoyed gardening with his tractor, traveling, camping, woodworking and playing poker with family and friends. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cheryl; five daughters: Shari and Timothy Woods, Suzanne and Doug Romano, Amy and Charlie Greatsinger, Stacy and Todd Rasmussen and Betsy and Kernwood Brown; sisters: Joanne and Joe Farris, Helen and Robert Jaegers, Sara Jaegers, Emily and Gary Eggen and Eva Kalaf; grandchildren: Colton and Jake Woods, Skyler and Reigha Romano, Brooks Stark and Anthony Greatsinger, Grace and Lilly Rasmussen, Brayten Sanders, Stella and Kannin Brown; and numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews along with lifelong friends. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lilly (Owen) Kalaf; and brothers, David Kalaf and Phillip Kalaf. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
