Harold Joseph Bax, 85, of Jefferson City, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Jefferson City Manor. He was born on November 13, 1935, in Koeltztown, a son of William and Coletta Bax. Harold was united in marriage on February 16, 1957, in Glasgow to Mary Lou Sellmeyer, who preceded him in death. Harold attended Fatima High School. He was a retired truck driver from the Missouri State Agency for Surplus Property. Harold was very active in his community, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lions Club, and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting; and never met a deer he wouldn't shoot. He will be remembered as being a flirt and loving his time spent on the Osage River with is brothers and Jerry Hamacher, but mostly for his love of his family, and time spent with them. He is survived by his children: Rebecca Imhoff (Jon), Roschelle Bax, Rene Maxey (Tom McHenry), Kent Bax (Kelley) and Roxane Sargent (Marty); grandchildren: Matthew Imhoff (Jaime), Cara Bisel (Brice), Clinton Maxey (Abigail), Kendra Maxey, Adam Bax (Claire), Logan Bax, Elizabeth Schnieders, Ethan Sargent, three great-grandchildren and one on the way; companion: Julie Buschjost; brothers: Jim Bax (Betsey), Bill Bax (Pat) and Joe Bax (Linda); sisters-in-law: Marcie Bax, Martha Clements (Ron) and Esther Dalton; and brother-in-law: Donnie Sellmeyer (Judy). He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years: Mary Lou; grandson: Corey Bax; and brothers: Jerry and David Bax; and brothers-in-law: Jerry and Vernon Sellmeyer. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m with a prayer service at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2021, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Msgr. David D. Cox officiating. Interment will be held at Resurrection Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Diabetes Foundation or the Helias Foundation.
