James R. "Rich" Meller, 93, of Lohman, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born on January 24, 1928, in Jefferson City, Missouri, a son of the late Peter and Louisa (Renn) Meller. He was united in marriage on November 28, 1953, to Martha "Margie" Pirner at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City. He attended St. Martin's Catholic School and high school in Centertown. In October of 1946 he enlisted in the United States Army and served with the Army of Occupation of Japan, in Korea, following World War II. After his honorable discharge from active service, Rich came home and began a lifelong career as a union carpenter. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved working on his farm. Rich also enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his children, grandkids and great-grandkids are times he cherished the most. Rich is survived by his son, Roy Meller (Kathy); granddaughters, Stacy Stotts (Matt) and Angie Nix (Steven); great-granddaughters, Breanna, Samantha and Olivia Stotts, Kyla and Lyssa Nix. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Margie Meller; son, Harold Meller; two brothers and five sisters. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Weber-Millard Funeral Home with prayer service beginning at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 6, 2021, at St. Martin's Catholic Church with Fr. Jason Doke officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Martin's Cemetery (new section) with full military honors.
