Ernest Leo "Sonny" Reeves

Ernest Leo "Sonny" Reeves, 75, of Jefferson City, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at St. Mary's Health Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 8, 1946, in Doniphan, Missouri, the son of the late William and Violet (Miller) Reeves. He was united in marriage on September 7, 1988 to Cindy. He was a graduate of Ellington High School in Doniphan. Sonny joined the Navy and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1970. He also served in the United States Coast Guard and Missouri State Water Patrol. Sonny had a lifelong love of learning and earned a bachelor's degree and two-master's degrees from Lincoln University. He had a passion for helping others achieve good mental health and overcoming addictions. Sonny loved to fish and spend time on the water in his boat. He was a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandson were times he treasured the most. Sonny is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cindy Reeves; children, Missy Vaught, Angel Ernst (Kirby), Eric Kinter (Melison) and Tonya Idel-Reeves (TJ Sagen); grandchildren, Jordan, Justin, Jessica, Connor, Max, Judy, Cayden, Kyle, Rylee, Nicholas and William; and great-grandson, Adrian. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Reeves. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Jeryl Bennett officiating. Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery.
