Glenda Sue Hatfield, age 69, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born on December 26, 1950, along with her fraternal twin sister, Linda Lou, in Crocker, to the late Vincent and Phyllis (Woolery) Hatfield of Iberia, who were completely surprised when they had two babies born just shortly after Christmas Day. Glenda enjoyed being outside and loved seeing animals, especially puppy dogs and cats. She collected a lot of stuffed animals and knew them all by name. She liked to listen to her music, especially country songs, color in her coloring books and looking at family pictures. Glenda had worked at the Sheltered Workshop (Capital Projects) in Jefferson City from November 1973 until January 2015 due to several knee surgeries. She missed going back to work and seeing her friends. She lived in a few group homes, but spent most of her time at Clearview Group Home in Jefferson City. She had a lot of special friends there. She enjoyed going to work and receiving a paycheck. She participated in going to Special Olympics, Camp Wonderland, going to movies, out to eat, and bowling. She had a great case worker, Stacey, that always did that extra to help Glenda through her life. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Church in Iberia, near her parents' home. Glenda enjoyed going to church from the group homes and many people knew her from the Jefferson City area. She liked to give people hugs as well as receive them. Glenda spent the last two years at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center. She enjoyed seeing the birds there and the puppy dogs that came to visit each day. Survivors include: her twin sister, Linda Sauter of Eldon; sister-in-law, Jeanie Hatfield of Versailles; aunt, Barbara (Woolery) Cummins of Holts Summit; guardian/niece, Susan (Sauter) Pinkston of Eldon; many nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Phyllis Hatfield; grandparents, Benjamin Elda and Susie (Thoss) Woolery and Aubrey Delmar and Cora (Bowles) Hatfield; brother, Ernie Vincent Hatfield; sister, Phyllis Dean Aldridge; and brothers-in-law, Victor K. Sauter and Richard Aldridge. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., with services immediately following at 2 p.m., on Friday, September 18, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Stan Way officiating. A private interment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Iberia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Sheltered Workshop, Capital Projects Inc., 2001 E. McCarty St., Jefferson City, MO 65101. Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia, Mo. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.fancher-rekusfuneralhomes.com.
