Cheryl Lynn Eilers, age 69 years, of Henley, Mo., passed away Friday, September 11, 2020 at her home surrounded by family. She was born November 1, 1950 in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Loretta Brumley. A resident of the central Missouri area for the majority of her life, Cheryl was a 1968 graduate of Jefferson City High School. She went on to earn her degree from the Pharmacy School at the University of Missouri - Kansas City in 1973. Shortly after, she earned her official Registered Pharmacy Certificate by successfully passing the Missouri Board of Pharmacy examination. During her time at pharmacy school, she met her future husband, Bruce W. Eilers. The two were married on October 20, 1973 in Kansas City, Mo. Their first son, Todd, was born September 1974. Her youngest son, Derek, was born March 1984. Cheryl began her professional career as a Registered Pharmacist at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. from 1973 until 1978. Cheryl then moved back to Jefferson City to work as a Staff Pharmacist for St. Mary's Health Center. After a year, she was appointed Director of Pharmacy Operations and continued to work at St. Mary's Health Center in various capacities for the next 35 years until her retirement in 2013. During her retirement, she began working part time at a pharmacy in Versailles, Mo. In addition, she also worked part time for Walgreens at various locations in central Missouri. Cheryl was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Many of her fondest memories include family vacations to Colorado for winter ski trips and Hawaii and Mexico during the spring. She also enjoyed visiting her son and grandchildren in California. She loved cooking for her family while having a margarita, taking care of her animals on the family farm, and sneaking candy to her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and loyal sports fan. She was her boys' number one fan at their football and baseball games in both high school and college. Anyone in attendance could hear her passion while cheering for her boys and eventually her grandchildren. In both sports and life, she always wanted the best for her boys and that love continued to her grandchildren. She was a woman of faith and cherished her membership at Friedens United Church of Christ. She was also a member of the American Pharmacy Association, Jefferson City Jays Booster Club and the American Quarter Horse Association. Cheryl grew up riding horses and that love continued throughout her life. She competed in horse shows in Tennessee and loved riding horses on their family farm. In her free time, Cheryl enjoyed cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals and collecting Cardinal baseball bobbleheads and other memorabilia. She also enjoyed antiquing and collecting Hard Rock Café pins. Survivors include: her loving husband of 46 years, Bruce Eilers; two sons, Todd Eilers (wife Angela) of Yorba Linda, Calif. and Derek Eilers of Henley, Mo.; three grandchildren, Tanner, Cayden and Myka; two brothers-in-law, Ronald Eilers (wife Jackie) and Craig Eilers (wife Gladys); two sisters-in-law, Denise Kemp (husband Allen) and Diane Spaulding (husband Mike); and numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother; three aunts, Adola Bubach, Ruth Brumley and Venita Angerer; brother-in-law, Paul Eilers; and nephew, Lance Corporal, Drew Weaver, United States Marine Corps. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2020. The general public is welcome to attend the visitation. The family requests that those in attendance wear protective masks and practice social distancing. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2020 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Jeff Patridge officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Friedens United Church of Christ Cemetery in Brazito, Mo. A webcast of her funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday for friends that are not able to attend by going to her memorial page on Freeman Mortuary's website. Friends may mail sympathy cards to the funeral home or leave condolences online to be given to her family.
