Bertha "Kay" Katherine (Frank) Verslues, 82, of Taos, passed away peacefully among family on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at her home. She was born on March 2, 1938, in Henley, Mo., the oldest daughter of the late August C. Frank and Caroline Virgil (Sanning) Frank. She was united in marriage on January 22, 1955, at Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church in Mary's Home to James Edvin Verslues, who preceded her in death on February 15, 2014. Kay was a homemaker and active mother from the time of her marriage. She was very involved with St. Francis Xavier Church and the School as a substitute teacher, chairing funeral luncheons, participating in the St. Anne's society as well as supporting multiple other parish functions. In the early 1980s Kay went to work as a Sales Representative for Professional Business Systems and subsequently Custom Quality until her retirement where she enjoyed meeting many people in the healthcare community. Kay's retirement years were spent spending time with cherished friends in prayer and fun. Kay was very proud of her many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, supporting them in their many Catholic sacraments, following and cheering them on with their school activities and a great variety of sporting events and most importantly making sure everyone was well fed with wonderful food. Kay is survived by eight (8) children: Dennis (Edith) Verslues, Taos; Curtis (Debbie) Verslues, Holts Summit; Keith (Patty) Verslues, Fulton; Curtis (Debbie) Verslues, Holts Summit; Vicki (Jim) Dorge, Westphalia; Mitchell (Becky) Verslues, Lohman; Dawne (Larry) Fink, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; Francis (Stacie), Taos, Mo.; Theresa Verslues-Johnson, Lee's Summit, Mo.; twenty-two (22) grandchildren: Denise (Brad) Lehmen, Melissa (Brad) Rackers, Kim McDaniel, Frank (Karen) Verslues, Daniel (Arin) VanLoo, Gwen VanLoo, Chelsea Verslues, Delta (Bakkar) Williams, Kathleen (Marc) Miller, Edward (Christina) Verslues, Bruce (Misty) Dorge, Jacob (Mandy) Dorge, Eric (Stephanie) Dorge, Adam Verslues, Rachel Verslues, Abigail Fink, Olivia Fink, Eliza Fink, Grace Verslues, Evan Verslues, Sophia Verslues, Hayden (McKenzie) Haney; as well as twenty-seven (27) great- grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers: Lyman (Terri) Frank and Lyndell (Kathy) Frank and brother-in-law: Leonard Prenger. Kay was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters: Carol Lynn (Verslues) Gourley and Marilyn Kay Verslues; one grandchild: Bradley Verslues and two siblings: Leland Frank and Delores (Frank) Prenger. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2020, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2020, with Fr. Roberto Ike officiating. Mass will be live streamed on Millard Family Chapels Facebook page. Private interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School.
