Donald Jr. Joseph Scheppers

Donald Joseph Scheppers Jr., 47, formerly of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at Advent Health in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. He was born on March 18, 1973 in Jefferson City, a son of Don and Deborah (Poiry) Scheppers Sr. He was a 1991 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Donnie Joe then went on to graduate with a Bachelors in Music from Lincoln University in 1997. Soon after he went to work for Union Pacific Railroad as a train dispatcher and he would stay with the company for over 20 years. His two great passions were the railroad and music. Donnie Joe was a talented musician who could play over 15 instruments. He was a qualified studio musician and a music therapist. He was a devoted son and grandson. His kindness and gentle spirit will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Donnie Joe is survived by his parents: Don and Deborah Scheppers; sister: Madonna Scheppers; aunts: Elizabeth Scheppers and Kathy Nevins. He was preceded in death by his infant sibling; paternal grandparents: Otto and Irene Scheppers; and maternal grandparents: Bernard and Arlena Poiry. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Memorial Mass on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 will be private for family only at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that expressions of sympathy may be made to Capital Projects.
