Ada Della Koonce

Ada Della Koonce, 83, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, St. Mary's Health Center. She was born on March 20, 1937, in Clayton, New Mexico, a daughter of the late Carl and Rhoda (Purcell) Stephenson. She was united in marriage to Frederick Koonce in Clayton, New Mexico. Ada was a 1956 graduate of Clayton High School in Clayton, New Mexico. She obtained her LPN after high school but wasn't satisfied and at age 52, she completed her RN. She was employed with the State of Missouri, Department of Corrections in Jefferson City and later with the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia. Ada was a member of the Bible Baptist Church and was strong in her faith. She enjoyed helping other people and many of her patients became life long friends. However, Ada cherished the times spent with family, especially the grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter: Debbie Cheek of Centertown; son: Don Koonce (Norma) of Holts Summit; grandchildren: Michael Cheek (Tricia), Stephen Cheek, Rick Koonce (Kristi) and Nichole Richardson (Hugh); great- grandchildren: Hailey Cheek, Austin White, Brian White, Matthew Cheek, Mackenzie Cheek, Rebekah Koonce, Josiah Koonce, Hudson Koonce, Jackson Koonce, Sadie Koonce, Haley Richardson, Kenny Richardson, Erick Richardson, Lanie Richardson and Tobey Richardson. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2020, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with funeral services following at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be private for the family at Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Bible Baptist Church Building Fund.
