Dorothy A. Rost

Dorothy A. Rost, 94, died on May 26, 2020, at her daughter's home in Columbia. She was born February 5, 1926, in Wardsville, Mo. to Louis and Crescentia Mehmert who preceded her in death. Dorothy was united in marriage on November 8, 1949, at Most Pure of Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Chamois Mo. to Medard W. Rost who preceded her in death in 2004. Dorothy and Medard were Grade A dairy farmers in Osage County for over 30 years. Upon retiring from the dairy business in 1982, Dorothy worked at the Morrison Apparel Factory in Chamois until her retirement. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morrison and was a member of the Ladies Sodality. Dorothy also enjoyed quilting, crocheting and gardening. Survivors include six children, David (Pam) Rost of Columbia, Mary (Todd) Schriewer of St. Charles, Suzanne (Steve) Hemmann of Columbia, Tim (Toby) Rost of Columbia, Dale (Lorie) Rost of Linn, and Paul (Barb) Rost of O'Fallon. She is also survived by one brother, Leonard (Ann) Mehmert of Belleville, Illinois and one sister, Mary Ellen (Richard) Bax of Morrison, Illinois; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis Mehmert and Paul Mehmert; and one sister, Betty Mehmert. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church 155 Morrison St. Morrison, MO 65061. Due to at risk family members, social distancing is expected. Mass of Christian Burial for family and relatives will be held at Assumption Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 29. Interment will be immediately following the mass at Assumption Catholic Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Assumption Catholic Church in Morrison.
