Francisca (Theresa) Eiken

Sister Francisca (Theresa) Eiken, CCVI, age 85, entered into eternal life on Friday, May 15, 2020, at The Village at Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Taos on October 29, 1934, to Vincent and Adela (Kerperin) Eiken. Sister Francisca attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic School in Taos and graduated from Fatima High School in Westphalia in 1953. She worked for the State of Missouri, Department of Social Services as a keypunch operator. Sister Francisca entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in 1960. She served in the Congregation's health care ministry as a radiology technician at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio until 1993. Following her retirement from health care ministry she was the archivist for the Congregation. For the past 10 years she enjoyed serving the Congregation in various activities. She had insight into people's needs and sought to help them. Sister Francisca accepted and enjoyed any situation. Her family will miss her quiet and prayerful demeanor and her positive attitude. Sister Francisca is survived by her sister: Mathilda (Kelly) Meyer and husband Don of Wentzville; her brothers: Joe Eiken of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico and Eddie Eiken and his wife Mary of Jefferson City; her sister-in-law: Clara Eiken of Taos; 30 nieces and nephews; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; and by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Sister Francisca was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Alfred Eiken, Silver Eiken, and Matthew Eiken; her sisters: Margaret Forck and husband Paul, Mary Winkelman and husband Clarence, Sister Adela (Edna Mary) Eiken, CCVI, Frances Eiken and Susie Eiken; her sister in law: Pat Eiken; her nephews: Kurt Eiken, Patrick Eiken and Gerald Winkelmann; nieces: Cheryl Winkelmann, Dolores Winkelmann, Teri (Eiken) Michaelson and Eileen (Winkelmann) Otto. Private services will be held at the Village at Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas with interment in the Convent Cemetery.
