James Norton Mims, 71, of Eldon, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 30, 1948 in Latham, a son of the late James and Dorothy (Suggs) Mims. He was united in marriage to Ruby Witt on July 29, 2019 in Branson after being faithful partners for 40 plus years. He was a 1967 graduate of Eureka High School. For many years he worked for FASCO as a supervisor and then went to Scholastic, where he retired. He enjoyed watching sports, especially St. Louis Cardinal baseball, and memories made in Branson. James loved farming and raising cattle but spending time with his grandchildren and family is what gave him the most joy. James is survived by his wife: Ruby Witt-Mims; children: Jimmy Mims, Angela Mims-Huff (Tony), Angel Witt-Masters (Mike) and Paul Ray (Susan), all of Eldon; siblings: Dorothy Baughn (Curtis) of California, Lloyd Mims (Marcia) of Centertown, Gail Mims (Helen) of Eldon and Mary Anderson of Lake Ozark; grandchildren: Chance Huff, Emily Masters, Cidney Huff, and Blake Ray; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter: Coral Huff; loving aunts: Helen Walters and Marie Markwick; and nephews: Stephen and Vince Mims. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the American Red Cross or the United Way.
