Anne Riley Buckley, age 76, of Tebbetts, Mo., passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020, at her home. She was born on August 23, 1943 in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Judge James T. and Marie L. (Payne) Riley. She was married on May 20, 1967 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Thomas Buckley, who survives of the home. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Anne graduated from Helias High School in 1961. She later attended the Business School at the University of Missouri and worked as an executive secretary for Capital Reserve Life Insurance. Anne loved to keep her mind and hands busy. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and tackling crossword puzzles, was skilled with a crochet needle and involved with the Little Theatre. She had a special place in her heart for her nieces, nephews and of course, her beloved dogs. Many memories include her family and friends - playing cards, cooking and hosting holiday gatherings and any other event she could use as an excuse to entertain. Anne loved to experience new places, soak in the culture, the people and just feel unfamiliar earth beneath her feet. Throughout her many trips, she always had an eye for unique finds. She made her way to Ireland, numerous destinations around the United States and even lived in New Mexico for a time. Anne was the epitome of "a lady" having attended finishing school and being the product of a very proper grandmother, her manners and poise were unmatched. She will be remembered as a welcoming, social butterfly by those who knew and loved her. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Thomas Buckley; her siblings, Mike (Marla) Riley, Sarah (Rick) Davis, Lisa Riley, John (Coni) Riley; a brother-in-law, Donald Prenger; a sister-in-law, Darla Riley; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Anne was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Patricia Prenger; and a brother, Thomas Riley. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2020 with a prayer service beginning at 4:15 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2020 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Jeremy Secrist officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary. www.freemanmortuary.com
