Dawn Brooks, age 55, of Plainfield, Illinois and Russellville, Missouri, departed for Heaven on Saturday, November 16, 2019. Dawn was born in Joliet, Illinois. She graduated from Plainfield High School in 1982 and later attended cosmetology school. She lived the majority or her adult life in Jefferson City, Missouri and spent a short period of time in Arizona. In 2017, she returned to Plainfield where she spent some of her happiest of days. We will always remember Dawn as an incredibly strong, independent and free-spirited woman; truly a fierce warrior until the end. Dawn enjoyed being outdoors; she loved gardening and fishing. She had a passion for animals and pleasing people. Dawn was also an artist and avid collector of Southwestern decor. She loved to cook and create household projects. She had a great work ethic and a caring heart. Dawn is survived by her daughter, Taylor Brooks; mother, Linda Brooks; brother, Brent (Robin) Brooks; her soulmate and companion, Rick Manfred; nephews, Cody and Colt Brooks; niece, Tiffani Brooks; three great nieces/nephews; many other family members and numerous beautiful and faithful friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Brooks; her grandparents, Frank & Emalie Dudley, Ralph Brooks and Isabelle Heggen; uncle, Keith Dudley; cousin, Kyle Dudley; and several of her beloved pets. All of these, she loved deeply. Please join us in a Celebration of Life on Friday, December 13 at 6:00 p.m. at Uptown in Plainfield, Ill. A Celebration of Life will also be held in Jefferson City, Mo. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Joliet Area Community Hospice.
