Richard Perry "Dick" Forbis, 80, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Heisinger Bluffs, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 17, 1939, in Tebbetts, a son of the late Perry and Helen (Dorsey) Forbis. He was married to the love of his life, Loretta "Lou" Brauner, on September 20, 1958, in Jefferson City. After returning from service in the Marine Corps, Dick earned many awards in sales before owning and operating successful businesses in both fire protection and water treatment. Dick never knew a stranger. His genuine and enthusiastic personality helped create long term friendships from peers, employees and customers. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17, American Legion Post 5, past member for 55 years at the Eagles Club Area 2693 and the Elks Club 513. Dick enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, playing cards, reading, attending auctions, dancing, telling jokes, cooking and barbequing. He loved good food and making sure his guests were well fed and he LOVED his ice cream! What brought him the most pleasure was spending time with his loving wife, children and many grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Lou Forbis; children: Perry Forbis, Benjamin Forbis, Cindy Proctor (Danny), Sandra Forbis (Don) and Nancy Bonnot (Doug); grandchildren: Whitney Patterson (Jake), Daniel Proctor (Torey), Samantha Sherman, Paige Forbis, Danielle Coppola (Matt), Ashley Balentine (Brian) and Dameon Bonnot; and eight great-grandchildren with three arriving soon. He was also preceded in death by his sister: Patty Kemp. Family and friends will be received from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2019 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
