Margaret Bernadine Benne, 92, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born January 10, 1927, in Taos, Missouri, the daughter of the late Theodore J. and Antonia Elizabeth (Castrop) Sanning. She was united in marriage on June 26, 1948, in Jefferson City, to Robert William Benne, who preceded her in death on July 29, 1992. Margaret worked as a nurse's aide for St. Mary's Hospital in the Maternity Ward, and as a secretary for the State of Missouri, IBM, and for the Diocese of Jefferson City Chancery. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Immaculata Club, and volunteered counting collections at church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include five children, Ron (JoAnn) Benne, Columbia; Paul (Rosalie) Benne, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; Mary Benne, Columbia; Shelley (Keith) Duncan, Jefferson City; Larry (Sandy) Benne, Jefferson City; 13 grandchildren, Melissa (Dwight) Koga, Chris (Beth) Benne, Brian Kaiser, Stephanie (Jess) McClaskey, Sara Benne (fiancé Jared Emmons), Corey Benne, Rev. Joshua Duncan, Justin (Karissa) Duncan, Jenna (Tyler) Saultz, Jordon Duncan, Adrienne (Doug) Otto, Rachel (Ryan) Roe, Clayton Benne; 13 great-grandchildren, Zach Koga, Alexa Koga, Taylor Benne, Carson Benne, Cadance Kaiser, Parker McClaskey, Izabel McClaskey, Logan Hoffman, Peyton Duncan, Hudson Otto, Maddex Otto, Beckett Roe, Mason Roe; one sister, Ann Pickert, Kansas City; and a sister-in-law, Helen Sanning, Westphalia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; one brother, Leonard Sanning; and a brother-in-law, Claron Pickert. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a prayer service at 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon, Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Joshua Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Diocese of Jefferson City Vocations or to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
