Geraldine Ray Weidler

Geraldine Ray Weidler, age 92, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2019, at her daughter's home in Lee's Summit, Mo. Geraldine "Deen" was born April 26, 1927, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Sheldon and Ivy Lee Ray. She married Bob M. Weidler on August 16, 1949, in St. Joseph, Mo. For most of her life Geraldine and her husband lived in Jefferson City, Mo., where they raised their two children and she worked as an Art Teacher at Simonsen Junior High School. For the past four years, she's lived in Lee's Summit, Mo., with her granddaughter Jessica, and two great grandchildren, Haley and Jacob. Deen was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, teacher, and friend. Deen was an amazing artist. In addition to her painting talents, she became hooked on doll making. She sculpted and molded original dolls, china painted their faces, and made the clothes and shoes. She was a member of chapter JB of P.E.O., Jefferson City Art Club, and a bridge club; all of which she enjoyed for many years. She was also a member of The First Christian Church, and later joined Community Christian Church, both of Jefferson City. Deen was proceeded in death by her parents, Sheldon and Ivy Lee Ray; her husband, Bob M. Weidler; siblings, Bette Anne Ray Koch and Gerald Ray. She is survived by her son, John C. Weidler, and wife Janna Weidler of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her daughter, Polly Ann Weidler Webster, and husband Steve Webster of Lee's Summit, Mo. "Deenie" as she was known by the rest of the family is also survived by three grandchildren, Jessica Weidler of Lee's Summit, Mo., Bobby Weidler and wife Shawna Weidler of Peyton, Colorado, and Scott Weidler of Colorado Springs, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Haley, Jacob, Ayden, Karsyn, Matthew, Oona, Max, Lily and Amy. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Memorial contributions can be made to Community Christian Church, 409 Ellis Blvd., Jefferson City, MO, 65101, which was damaged in the recent tornado.
