Schnieders moves on to Round of 32 at Missouri Amateur

SUNRISE BEACH - Jefferson City's Archer Schnieders continued his stay into the Round of 32 on Thursday at the 114th annual Missouri Amateur Championship at The Club at Porto Cima.

Schnieders, the No. 48 seed in the 64-player field, began the match play portion of the Missouri Amateur with a 4-and-2 win against St. Louis' Nathan McCutcheon, who finished the stroke play portion as the No. 17 seed.

Schnieders reached the turn with a 3-up lead, winning back-to-back holes on the third and fourth and adding another win on the seventh hole.

The two players traded wins on the first four holes to start the back nine, then Schnieders clinched the match with a birdie on the par-3 16th hole to move on to today's Round of 32.

Schnieders advances to play the No. 16 seed, Christopher Ferris of St. Louis. The pairing will be the second of 16 groups to tee off this morning at 8:09 a.m.

The winner advances to face either top-seeded Thomas Henson of Hermann or No. 33 Sam Migdal of St. Louis in the Round of 16 this afternoon.
