Snyders, Schnieders win golf flights in Parent Child tournament

Jefferson City's Mike and Michael Snyder took first place in the Nicklaus Flight, while Jefferson City's Jay Schnieders and Dawson Schnieders won the Lanning Flight in the Parent Child Championships, which were hosted by the Missouri Golf Association on Monday and Tuesday at The Club at Porto Cima.

The Snyders posted a two-round total of 15-under 129, opening with a 9-under 63 on Monday. They finished with just one bogey on their 36 holes and made 16 birdies.

The Schnieders won their flight with a 14-under 130, shooting a 64 on Day 1 and a 66 on Day 2. They recorded 15 birdies and made just one bogey.

Three Jefferson City pairings claimed the top-three spots in the Nicklaus Flight. Jay and Drew Higgins were runner-up with a 13-under 131, totaling 17 birdies, while Frank Higgins and Archer Schnieders tied for third with a 12-under 132 and no bogeys on 36 holes.

In the Lanning Flight, Jefferson City's Scott and Taylor Hovis finished fifth with a 9-under 135, making an eagle on the par-5 13th hole Monday to go with nine birdies in the tournament. Jefferson City's Sam Verslues and Cole Higgins placed seventh with a 4-under 140, post 10 birdies.

In the Watson Flight, Lake Ozark's Larry Lucco and Will Greenwald finished in seventh place with a 12-over 156, as they made a pair of birdies in Monday's first round.

In the Fricke Flight, Jefferson City's Russell Goldammer paired with Ashton Goldammer, tying for second place with a 7-under 137, making 13 birdies on their 36 holes. Lohman's George and Arris Pardalos came in sixth place in the flight with a 3-over 147, as they made six birdies in the tournament.

In the Century Championship division - where both golfers have a combined age of 100 years or more - Jackson's Robert and John Litzelfelner and Poplar Bluff's Randy and Derek Rahlmann tied for first place with a 13-under 131.

In the Super Senior Championship division - where one golfer is 70 years or older - Raytown's JD Hedrick and Blue Springs' Del Hedrick won by three strokes with a 13-under 131.

Jefferson City's Jim Byland, paired with Mia McGraw of Camdenton, finished in 10th place with a 6-over 150, as they recorded two birdies in each round.
