Hale Hentges stretches during practice at the Washington's training facility last month in Ashburn, Va.

It was an up and down last 10 days for Hale Hentges.

It started as Hentges was cut from the Washington Football Team's practice squad. But the former Helias Crusader tight end was quickly signed to the practice squad of the Indianapolis Colts and has a chance to be on the team's 53-man roster today.

Hentges was an undrafted free agent out of Alabama last season and signed with the Colts. He made Indianapolis' 53-man roster to start the season, but was waived Oct. 5 after the team needed a roster spot to sign help in the defensive secondary.

Two days later, Hentges was claimed off waivers by Washington. He played in 11 games with the franchise, finishing with eight catches for 103 yards and one touchdown.

Hentges went to training camp this summer with Washington. He was waived by the team before being signed to the practice squad. Hentges was cut from the Washington practice squad after two weeks.

Hentges then returned to the Colts by signing with their practice squad last Tuesday.

The Colts have three tight ends on their current 53-man roster, but starter Jack Doyle is questionable for this afternoon's game against the Jets with knee/ankle injuries.

On Saturday, the Colts placed linebacker Matthew Adams on the injured reserve list. According to Indianapolis media reports, Hentges may be added to the 53-man roster to add depth at the tight end position  if Doyle is unable to play today.
