Prep Baseball: St. Elizabeth win title

EUGENE - The St. Elizabeth Hornets won twice Saturday to take first place in the Eugene AA Bash Tournament.

The Hornets opened with a 10-0 win in five innings against the Eugene Eagles, then topped the New Bloomfield Wildcats 9-1 in the championship game.

Brock Lucas pitched a no-hitter for St. Elizabeth against Eugene, as he walked one batter, hit another and struck out eight in five innings.

Lucas was also 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI double and a three-run home run. Jace Kesel hit a three-run home run as well, part of a two-hit performance.

Caleb Oligschlaeger pitched St. Elizabeth to victory against New Bloomfield, lasting 6 2/3 innings before reaching his pitch-count limit. Oligschlaeger gave up one run on four hits with three walks and 12 strikeouts.

Oligschlaeger finished with a double and a three-run homer, while Blake Wobbe was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

St. Elizabeth (9-1) plays Tuesday at New Bloomfield.
